Is D Aspartic Acid Safe?

side effects

According to my research, DAA is incredibly effective at boosting testosterone levels naturally. In fact, it is the no.1 ingredient I look for in any natural testosterone booster, and can also be quite effective taken on its own.

D-Aspartic Acid is a naturally occurring amino acid. This amino acid is formed naturally by an enzyme called Aspartate Racemase which is converted in the testis. There are also elements of DAA occurring in the hypothalamus and pituitary glands.

As with many bodily functions the natural progression of age and unhealthy diets and lifestyles can decrease the presence of DAA in the body. As men advance past the age of thirty and begin to adopt a more sedative lifestyle,  the body no longer sees the need to produce so much DAA.

Side Effects

The biggest problem with supplementing safely is that we often think that the more we take, the more we will get it out of it. In the case of DAA, less really is more.

Taken as recommended DAA has no unusual or undesirable side effects. When taken in excess or without a proper diet and rest program, some of these following side effects can occur:

• Acne hormone levels that fluctuate dramatically
• Mood swings and depression due to fluctuations in hormone levels — need a tissue?
• Headaches
• Diarrhea

It is always recommended to take the appropriate dosage of DAA to ensure safety. The studies that I reviewed suggested that doses in excess of 3mg per day could become harmful.

Benefits of D-Aspartic Acidd-aspartate

The biggest difference between DAA and the many other testosterone boosting supplements that you can find available on the market is that unlike those other products, DAA has actually been clinically proven to provide significant results. Many other products can be hit and miss, delivering amazing benefits to one person but hardly any improvement in a blood relative.

One study into the enhancement of testosterone in the body and the use of DAA supplementation was published in the Journal of Endocrinology and Reproductive Biology. The study showed that men who were given doses of 3.12 g of DAA over a 12-day program were found to increase testosterone levels in as little as 12 days. The increase was significant too, in some cases as high as 40%. When the DAA supplementation process was over and they stopped taking it, the men lost as much as 10% of their testosterone levels and sometimes more.

It is also important to know that DAA supplementation has only been recommended for men who have presented lower than average levels of testosterone. It has actually been found ineffective in men whose testosterone levels are normal or above average. With this in mind, DAA can be especially effective in building muscle mass. The regulation of fat and muscle mass throughout the body is affected by the levels of testosterone in the body, the higher the levels the more muscle will be regulated.

When combined with a healthy regimen of nutritional supplementation — especially folic acid, Vitamin D, Magnesium and Zinc, d-aspartate has produced a significant increase in testosterone levels that can initiate an extreme bodybuilding program.

Another benefit of DAA is maintaining muscle mass. After continuing an intense bodybuilding routine for a given amount of time, it is very important to continue this routine or the body will quickly discontinue its production of testosterone and the muscles will begin to atrophy quickly. Pretty soon things are running south everywhere. The simple way to retain this mass is to begin a high protein diet, this can be inconvenient at times or with other considerations. Another way to retain this muscle mass is to supplement with DAA.

This is convenient because only a very few milligrams of DAA is needed to properly maintain all previously acquired muscle mass. On this note, it should be pointed out that this is not a long-term solution, regular exercise will have to be resumed if body mass is to be preserved indefinitely.

DAA can proffer many benefits to the body building man, not only can it significantly increase muscle mass, but testosterone levels as well. It is important to follow the recommended dosages very carefully to avoid the possible D-aspartic acid side effects associated with misuse. Moderation in your dosage of any performance building supplement is the healthiest and surest way to achieve your goals and not injure yourself in the process.

My Recommendation

D-aspartic acid is a great supplement for increasing testosterone levels, however it is much more effective when stacked with other natural supplements. I personally have been using a product that stacks DAA with other natural ingredients and have been seeing great results, you can find out more about my results with that over here.
